The Rising Popularity of Bass Fishing Tournaments

While many people have begun to actively participate in bass fishing as a leisure activity, not as many are aware that there are a number of robust bass fishing tournaments perpetually going on throughout the North American continent.

Currently, the most popular of the bass fishing tournaments is the Bassmaster Challenge. This generally consists of the top 50 bass anglers in North America. They set out in a given area for a set amount of time with the goal to catch the largest amount of bass (in terms of pounds). When they all return at the end of the challenge, all of the live fish on the boat are weighed; and any dead fish are counted as penalties against the anglers.

Generally, there are two strategies these bassmasters employ in bass fishing tournaments: they either go after schools or after nests. Both are fairly easy targets. When they drop a lure in a nest, a female is almost always guaranteed to aggressively attack it. And if they drop the right lure or bait in a the middle of a school hunting for food, there's no question at all that something will bite.

In addition to the Bassmaster Challenge, there are a handful of other large bass fishing tournaments that are televised on sporting and outdoors channels each year. The spring and the fall are two especially significant seasons for bass fishing tournaments, especially in the Northeastern United States.

If you are interested in participating in some of these bass fishing tournaments, you will want to consider contacting one of the organizations that operates these tournaments. One of the largest associations in the United States is the Angler's Choice Tournament Trailers. From there, you may want to get a referral to a smaller organization that runs bass fishing tournaments in your region.
